Diving Hin Muang from Koh Lanta
Hin Daeng and Hin Muang dive sites are two famous rocky pinnacles located at the far south of the Mu Koh Lanta Marine National Park, about 55 km from our beach dive shop on Koh Lanta.
Widely considered to be the best dive sites in Thailand, our fast speedboats provide the shortest possible journey time from Koh Lanta to these spectacular dive sites.

Hin Muang (Purple Rock in Thai) is located only a few hundred meters away from Hin Daeng. The top starts at a depth of around 12 m, with a long ridge around 40 m deep connecting both pinnacles. Hin Muang drops to the sea bed around 65+ meters, making it one of the deepest dive sites in Thailand.
Depending on the currents, we usually like to dive Hin Muang first, as it's the deeper dive.
The long ridge at Hin Muang is covered in many thousands of purple and red soft corals, feeding on plankton drifting past on the currents. These huge carpets of soft corals give the reef its name, Hin Muang, Purple Rock.

This spectacular dive site attracts giant trevallies, huge emperors, and titan triggerfish, roaming the reefs hunting and feeding on the millions of fish found around this huge rocky ridge.
Divers looking more carefully will find many marine species which are not usually seen at the other dive sites around Koh Lanta. Lucky divers may also see manta rays and whale sharks out in the blue, or in the shallows above the reef playing in divers bubbles.
Stronger Currents @ Hin Muang
You can expect mild to medium currents at this dive site and must be comfortable making a mid-water ascent and safety stop with no physical reference in stronger currents.
For less experienced divers, we recommend including a trip to Hin Daeng & Hin Muang as part of the Advanced Open Water Diver course, which provides an excellent introduction to deeper dives in stronger currents.
