We offer the PADI Open Water Diver course over a 3 or 4 day period (depending on your confidence levels and learning ability), where you'll learn the basic theory and safety rules of scuba diving, get to practice underwater skills in shallow water, either in a swimming pool or down at the beach and then it's out on our luxury speedboat for 4 fantastic dives around some of the best dive sites that Thailand has to offer.

We keep student groups very small, with typically only one or two students with each dive instructor (maximum 4), ensuring a very high level of personal attention and the best possible learning environment for you, the student.

We are very fortunate here at Dive & Relax. We are located on Koh Lanta in southern Thailand, with Koh Haa, Koh Phi Phi and the Bida Islands only a short 30 - 40 minute boat ride away, and with Shark Point and Anemone Reef around an hour away, we have easy access to some of the very best scuba diving training sites in Thailand.

What's The Minimum Age?

If you are at least 10 years old then you can take the PADI Junior Open Water Diver course, and if you are aged 15+ then you can take the adult PADI Open Water Diver Course.

PADI Junior Open Water Divers aged 10 and 11 are certified to a maximum of 12m depth and they mush dive with a certified parent, guardian or PADI Professional. Twelve to fourteen-year-olds must dive with a certified adult, to a maximum depth of 18m. At age fifteen, the diver may upgrade to a regular PADI Open Water Diver certification without further training.

Typical Course Schedule:

Day 1: 3 hours of dive theory and videos. After lunch we will introduce you to the dive equipment, how to assemble, disassemble and test it, followed by a practical session in confined water/swimming pool where you will learn all the basic diving skills.

Day 2: 2 dives from the boat under the direct supervision of a PADI Instructor to a maximum depth of 12m, followed by 2 hours of dive theory in the afternoon and a short multiple-choice exam.

Day 3: 2 dives from the boat under the direct supervision of a PADI Instructor to a maximum depth of 18m, followed by the final certification paperwork!

How do I start?

It's very simple, all you need to do is contact us, tell us when you will arrive on Koh Lanta, which resort you are staying at, and which date you wish to start the course - we will do all the rest for you.

Once you've completed your PADI Open Water Diver course, the next step on your diving adventure is to become a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver.
