Dive & Relax - Terms & Conditions
We aim to provide the best possible service to our guests at all times and we will do everything we can (within reason) to ensure that you have a great time diving with us, however please read the information below, just to be sure that you know our policies in advance.
Payment
All advance bookings for diving can only be accepted with a 30% deposit. Payment can be made via PayPal, or direct to our bank account here in Thailand. The balance is payable on either the last day of diving, or at the end of a PADI course. Please note that we do not have a credit card machine, so all payments on the island must be in cash (local currency Thai Baht). There are many ATMs on Koh Lanta, and there are 2 ATMs very close to our dive shop at Castaway Resort on Long Beach.
Please note that it is not possible to make full payment here on the island using PayPal. PayPal (for whatever security/anti-fraud/unusual activity/spending reasons) will most likely block the payment and freeze your money - this happens in 95% of cases - even if you already have a verified PayPal account.
PADI Courses
Before starting a PADI course, we need to make sure that you are fit to dive - this is for your own personal safety. We ask all diving students to complete a Medical Statement before starting any PADI course with us.
Before booking a PADI course online, please take time to read over the medical statement and complete page 1. If you answer 'yes' to any of the medical quesitons, please print the form and ask your family doctor/physician to complete page 2, as we'll need to see their written approval before you can start your PADI course.
For the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course, there is a 1,200 B additional fuel surcharge per day if any of the diving days are taken at Hin Daeng/Hin Muang or Shark Point/Anemone Reef/King Cruiser Wreck.
Weather & Unforseen Events
Obviously we can't control the weather, and if anything happens which means we can't take you diving, or you can't complete your PADI course, then we will offer you an alternative date (as soon as possible). If this is not suitable, we'll refund that part of the dive package or PADI course which couldn't be completed. In the case of PADI courses, we will provide a PADI Student Referral Form which you can take to any PADI dive center in the world within 12 months to complete your course.
Price Guarantee
We reserve the right to change our prices without prior notice, however if we put the price up, then for all online bookings we will honour the prices valid at the time of booking. If we put the price down then we will appy the new (lower) price to your final diving bill.
Resort Booking/Cancellation Policy
When arranging diving packages along with accommodation, we are bound by the different booking and cancellation policies from each individual resort. On each of our resort information pages, we provide a link to the resort's own website where you can find information regarding the resort policies. Please make sure you have read and fully understand these policies before making a booking with us.
Late Arrivals
For planning and logistics reasons, we need to meet all our guests at least the day before a dive or snorkel trip to do paperwork, check diving certifications, equipment sizes, any special dietry requirements and so on (big list!). Since our office closes at 7pm each day, if you are arriving on the island the day immediately before a booked trip, please try to contact us before 6pm on 0890503009 or 0848437415 - your resort reception can make the call for you.
Please be aware that we do not normally answer our telephones after 7pm, so if you plan to arrive at your resort after 7pm then please notify us at least 24 hours in advance so that we can prepare for this.
Please also remember that we work long hours each and every day to ensure that all our trips go smoothly the following morning, and that we also need to eat dinner, do our laundry, relax, call our family, clean the bungalow, meet friends for a drink, do some shopping, etc., just the same as everyone else... so we hope you understand why we like to see you before 7pm.
Dive/Snorkel Trip Cancellation
A cancellation fee of 100% is charged for cancellation on the day of the trip/course training, including no-show, etc. The cancellation fee will be the full cost of the trip or PADI training for that day. A cancellation fee of 50% is charged for any cancellation after 5pm the day before the trip. Our office closes at 7pm each day, so if you wish to cancel then please contact us before 7pm, otherwise this will be treated as a cancellation on the day of the trip, with a 100% cancellation fee.
If we determine that you are unfit to dive through over-consumption of alcohol the previous night, then obviously for safety reasons, we may refuse to allow you to board our boat for diving or snorkeling, or to take part in any PADI course that day. You are responsible for full cancellation charges for the day in this case.
In cases of genuine injury or illness, we may consider the postponment of a dive/snorkel trip or a full refund.
Insurance
We strongly recommend that you obtain comprehensive holiday travel insurance prior to the start of your trip to cover any costs incurred due to any injury or illness during your holiday.
